In a hopeful sign for the American furniture industry and the U.S. economy overall, American-made furniture exports grew by 11 percent during the first six months of 2011, signaling a burgeoning interest in these products and their viability in the global marketplace, according to Furniture Today.

Shipments reached $1.32 billion during the first half of 2011, up from $1.2 billion during the same time period in 2010. In particular, shipments have increased drastically in China, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Australia and Germany.
